Studio Build Update: Walls Are Going Up

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching a space take shape—and this week, the studio crossed one of those big, visible milestones: drywall is officially going up.

The interior has been a flurry of focused activity—scaffolding set in place, sheets of drywall lifted and fitted with precision, and a crew that clearly knows what they’re doing. Their workmanship has been impressive to watch, and it’s one of those moments that reminds you how much skill and experience go into the parts of a building that eventually fade into the background.

With the walls now defining the rooms, the studio suddenly feels less like a construction project and more like a place where real work will happen. I can stand inside and begin to imagine shelves, light, tools, clay, fabric—ideas that have lived in my head for a long time, soon to be grounded in actual walls.

I’m incredibly grateful for the talented people bringing this vision to life, and excited to share these in-progress glimpses with you. There’s still plenty ahead, but this feels like a turning point—the bones of the studio are slowly being fixed in place.

As the studio build continues, I’ll be sharing regular updates on the construction process, materials, and milestones, as this working art studio is prepared for daily making and studio work.
